The top notch quality!

Intercontinental Kunming is the best hotel I have I ever been for this price.
The food at the club lounge is the best! The staff at the IHG group helped our family from checking in to booking a hotels in lijiang getting train tickets.

Over-advertised

Craving for profit from its commercial rental, the local management team introduced bundles of unknown brand and shops into the hotel premise, which is a total un-match of the brand of InterCon. Feeling like running into a local scam mall for tourists or a 3rd-tier Macao hotel. While there are many cheap shops, there is no convenience store for customer needs.
Apart from an indoor swimming pool and a tiny playroom with some blocks, there is virtually nothing to do for kids of 9 year old. Compared to other top family hotels and InterCon in China, the Kunming InterCon is one of the least recommended for family.
Scored high for high room quality and services. Family-wise, it is over-advertised.

Impersonal stay

The staff was really nice but the place felt a little impersonal. Our room was located about a 10 minute walk from the lobby and the breakfast restaurant. With young kids it felt far. The room was large and comfortable though, and the breakfast was delicious. We just didn’t really feel welcome by the concierge.

Check-in experience was great- staff was super friendly helping us get around the expansive property and even gave us a drink coupon.
Breakfast options was less impressive, however- esp. at their price point.
