The Jing's Residence (Pingyao Jingzhai Kezhan) is a courtyard-style hotel located on East Avenue in the heart of the Pinyao's ancient historical district. The building in which the hotel is housed was once the former residence of a Qing Dynasty silk merchant. The Jing's Residence consists of four courtyards connected by corridors paved with black bricks in the ancient Chinese northern residence style. On offer are 19 rooms and suites outfitted with modern conveniences and comforts while preserving the original structure and all of its ancient natural charms. For guests convenience, check-in at this hotel occurs in rooms, forgoing the need for any line-ups. The lobby, freed of a front desk, has as its focus a fireplace, repurposing the hotel entrance from a procedural role to a place wholly devoted to furnishing guests with an atmospheric public area. From the lobby, guests can access the hotel's dining outlet, which serves Chinese fare. Guests can also make use of the hotel's bar and its small library.
