Hostel with incredible facilities.
This was a unique place to stay. Clean room - very high ceiling with aircon. Great outdoor area downstairs as the communal area. Well organised and set up.
100m from the beach. Close to local restaurants and touristy areas but also has a local feeling. Fast WiFi. Shared bathroom was not an issue.
Private rooms and also dormitory available.

Le Mat Hostel
The entrance door of " Le Mat" hostel reminded me of a medieval castle door and on entering this palatial mansion felt I was on the sets of a film shoot based on early 20th century society.When built this mansion must have been a jewel in this historic Old Town of Larnaca.Larnaca Fort and Djami Kebir, or the Great Mosque, an active Muslim mosque having one towering minaret is just a few meters away from " Le Mat" hostel.The Church of Saint Lazarus , a late-9th century church in Larnaca is just walking distance from " Le Mat" hostel.Prime location hostel for Backpackers and budget tourists in Larnaca.Finikoudes promenade and the beach is just walking distance from the hostel as also all the plush restaurants. WiFi is available throughout the hostel and there is a kitchen for guests to cook.

Great place on Christmas
I stayed here only one night (Christmas night) but I would have been happy to stay longer. It was great.
The hostel is in a good location for walking. I really appreciated the before-hand communication, which allowed me to enter when no one was at the desk (presumably because it was Christmas Day).
I had a private room with a bathroom. Basic but spotless and comfortable.
Excellent wifi and good hot water.
The kitchen has all the amenities and is clean. The common areas are good for visiting with other travelers.
Would stay again.

A charming inn ideally located
I confirm, Mat Hostel in September 2023 is still the place to stay in Larnaca. Ideally located (close to the sea, the Saint-Lazare church, the Turkish quarter, the bus station, bars and restaurants, etc.), this listed establishment is full of charm and absolute calm. Everything is comfortable (bedding), functional (electrical sockets, adapter, hot water in the showers, etc.) and very clean, the staff is adorable and will do everything to help you and inform you.

No bicycle allowed at all
I travel by bicycle and booked 3 nights at Le Mat hostel.
I have traveled for a long period of time and visited many hostels so far, but this was the first time I’ve ever been denied my bicycle secured at the hostel. They asked me to leave it outside on the street.
So if you travel by bicycle, find somewhere else to stay.
The hostel have a nice patio yard where there is plenty of space for a bicycle.
