This chalet-style hotel is located in Chatel, in the Portes du Soleil ski resort, just 100 metres from the ski lifts. Hôtel Eliova l'Eau Vive offers comfortable rooms and some feature a balcony.

Brilliant position and great value for money.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. It’s brilliantly positioned (100 metre walk from the Linga lift), with fantastic food and really friendly staff.
Special thanks to Axel and Liv for making our stay so good.
Will definitely be returning in the future!

An unpleasant manager
We stayed at this hotel as a family group for a week.
The comfort was relatively as expected except for the bedding which was somewhat narrow and uncomfortable for large people.
Clean at appointment and room cleaned every day.
Catering: little variety and relatively rich (full board formula and coffee not included after meal, surprising)
Extremely unpleasant manager who creates a feeling of embarrassment among both the customers and her team of waitresses/maids.
Her attitude towards us, as well as her team of waitresses and housekeepers, was extremely unpleasant. Every request we had was met with thoughts and a feeling of inconvenience.
Here are some examples :
- During breakfast, within the scheduled time slot, we were entitled to “is it almost over? » in an inquisitive tone followed by deliberate banging of dishes while clearing them.
- On the last day, we asked (once) for an extra towel to dry ourselves because the towels we had were damp, the manager refused, arguing “do you change towels every day at home? I'm the one who pays for the towels" we had to insist on having them
We understand the substance but the form was absolutely not appropriate for a customer report.
Never seen before in a hotel.
- During breakfast services, the crepe maker being difficult to use and messy with the flow of pasta, we were entitled to a reflection like "but it's not possible to be so clumsy, it's It's a pain to always have to clean! followed by offensive words”
However, his team was able to keep smiling, despite the situation.
Wifi is only available in the hotel lounge and not in the rooms.
Reception service / bar closed in the afternoon

3* hotel which could be good but mediocre reception and very average half board
Clean hotel close to ski lifts and shuttles to the center of Châtel. Good breakfast. To deplore: unfriendly reception from managers, derogatory remarks during the stay (unheard of in a hotel!). no possibility of having a 2nd room key. Reception closed between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. The dinner for half board is very ordinary and not qualitative. Very noisy refectory style dining room.

xenophobia at the worst
I have never felt discriminated in my life as much as before we spent a couple of days at Hotel Eliova L'Eau Vive. We arrived on a Wednesday evening and payed and stayed for two days including dinner etc... On the third day we extended our reservation for one more night because although we felt some hostility from the part of the service team we felt confident we can stay for one more night without any problems. On the third night after we extended our reservation they insisted we pay immediately for the room nevertheless they had all our bank and personal details at hand. They told us we could be criminals escaping off to Paris without giving them any reason to think so. They told us if we don't pay now 10pm at night they are going to call the police immediately. I've never been treated this way in my life before I think this is a perfect example of xenophobia.

The most amazing owners ever!!!
We visited the hotel in March but our stay was cut short due to the outbreak of corona virus however the owners and staff of the hotel were very accommodating and helpful. They were so kind and welcoming and were more than happy to help us out if we ever had any concerns. The food was so different to what I would normally eat but was cooked very well and served so quickly and was fresh! Breakfast had so many options too including a pancake making station - the coffee was also incredible! The rooms were very spacious and although basic and traditional, for the price you pay it had all the needs. It was so close to the linga lift and only a 30 min walk into Chatel - or there's also a bus service that runs every 15 mins.
The main reason we loved this hotel were the staff. They were so accommodating and are the best part about the hotel. Please stay here if you're looming for a basic, cheap but great skiing holiday.
