Stay here now!

Amazing stop along the Camino. Delicious food. Comfortable room and bed. Lovely location. The hotel has an interesting history. Highly recommend

Beware of overcharging!

Three friends and I walked the first segment of the Camino Way in May 2026.
I booked 2 rooms at each accommodation direct with the hotels in November 2025 as follows;
The Hotel Central in Saint Jean Pied de Port 2 star was 141 Euros per room per night.
The Hotel Roncesvalles 3 star was 102 Euros per room per night.
The Europa Hotel in Pamplona 3 star was 154 Euros per room per night.
The Hotel Akerreta 2 star was 250 Euros per room per night.
At the time of booking I presumed the Akerreta 250Euros booking was for 2 rooms as the price is so much more expensive than the other hotels but no we were charged 250 Euros per room per night, the price on their website is 128 -138 Euros.
I tried to question this at the time but the man there is a one man band doing everything and he was extremely busy on the front desk.
I emailed on our return home but he couldn't explain why it cost so much and soon stopped replying! I booked 7 months in advance and direct hoping to save the hotels money by not booking with an agent. My advice is to book through an agent such as Bookings.com but be very careful booking this 2 star hotel which cost us more than any 5 star hotel in Pamplona!

Must have been an off day

The owner was grumpy from check-in to checkout. Based on other reviews this may have just been an off day or he was overwhelmed with a large group. The location is great for the Camino. The food was good. I could not get a second cup of coffee at breakfast since he disappeared. It’s too bad. It’s a great location but you miss the town of Zubiri and we did not feel welcome.

Stop and enjoy.

If you are doing the Camino, do not hesitate to stop here if you are looking for a corner to rest... stop here. Beautiful house, the owner is a perfect host, incredible breakfast...

Hotel worth visiting.

Great terrace to cool off after a day of walking and a long stage.
Great welcome, I recommend it.
