This is a great hotel - fantastic central location, friendly staff, comfortable bed and a great shower.
I originally submitted this review in Irish (Gaelic) which is the official language of Ireland but it was rejected. Irish is officially recognised by the European Union so I hope this can be rectified.

Shamelessly overpriced low quality hotel. Check in was complicated and took forever, the staff were extremely unhelpful and passive. The hotel itself is dingy, not clean, the corridors smell like public bathrooms, the rooms have zero sound proofing, you can literally hear the neighbours farting or chewing. The shower did not drain and overflowed despite complaining about it for 3 days in a row to the staff and then “fixing” it. There was no space to work in the lobby. And the internet is not viable for professional work.
But there was an even bigger problem: Deafening and prolonged fire alarms rang every single night at 3 and 4am, several times per night, for each of the nights I stayed there.
All of these problems were crowned by the absence of solutions provided by the staff and the absence of any manager contact. After 3 days of a nightmare stay here and complaining to the uninterested and dismissive person at the front desk, I finally insisted on speaking to the manager. After waiting an hour - yes, AN HOUR - I was informed the manager would not be available to speak to anyone. And I am 100% convinced non of the complaints even reached anyone aware of the nightmare guests were experiencing.
Absolutely shocking experience for a hotel that costs this much but has the living quality of a budget Central American hostel and where I managed at most to sleep 3 uninterrupted hours in 3 days.
Avoid at all costs, you will never be as sleep deprived as you will be here.

A convenient base to see the rest of central Madrid from. The accessible room was large enough and quieter being away from the rooms on the same floor. The view is just of the building. The bathroom is a large wet room, maybe could do with an extra handrail in the shower and tiles get a jet wash, but functional. Air conditioning was working and adjustable. There is a small step to get into the building, but whoever was on reception was quick to offer help and everyone was very hospitable throughout my stay. The area around Opera is flat with lots shops and bars/restaurants to easily access.

The property location is very convenient. Most of the tourist attractions, metro stations and restaurants are just a walking distance away. And the staff are also very nice.
